KMG has a great opportunity for a Maintenance Tech II or III position at its location in Pueblo, Colorado. This position is responsible for inspection, repair and upgrade of mechanical/electrical equipment, hydraulic equipment, piping, and packaging equipment. Electrical troubleshooting of equipment needed using amp meters and working knowledge PLC controls for all types of equipment in the plant.

Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

2 – 4 years office experience, business or accounting experience preferred

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in production manufacturing operations preferred but not required
  • Must possess valid state Driver’s License
  • Good communications skills; fluent in English including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and directions
  • Ability to read, interpret operational blue print manuals and other regulatory documents as applicable for working in Chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, including OSHA standards and regulations
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to work with fractions and perform various mathematical conversions commonly used in petrochemical industry
  • Basic computer knowledge and user ability including database systems and other programs and applications used at location
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
  • Understanding of general business concepts
  • Must be able to work varying and/or rotating shifts
  • Plumbing/pipefitting experience PVC & Copper
  • Experience repairing manufacturing operations equipment (Tech I – minimum of 2 years, Tech II - 5 years, Tech III - 8 years)
  • Experience with rotating equipment including wet scrubbers and pumps & waste water operations
  • Knowledge of tank and piping standards for high purity applications
  • Experience driving various forklifts & limited troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read P&ID drawings for plant modification as needed
  • Plumbing/pipefitting experience with PFA, PVDF/Kynar, & Teflon high purity preferred
  • Boiler/steam system experience maintaining, operation, & troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of packaging conveyors both operational & troubleshooting with PLC preferred

Essential Duties:

  • Stocks inventory of various parts required
  • Handles general housekeeping in work area
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining equipment files.
  • Performs preventative & corrective maintenance on equipment
  • Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements
  • Responds to operational needs of daily manufacturing as assigned
  • Repairs and aligns rotating equipment including, but not limited to, hydraulic systems, pumps, compressors, chiller units and wet air scrubber units.
  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EH&S principles and values; champions safety as necessary
  • Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position
  • Working knowledge of Lock out & Tag out for equipment safety required
  • Maintains filing system
  • Repairs, troubleshoots, upgrades, and calibrates various equipment and devices used by Company including boilers, HVAC resets & able to wire motor’s 480 volts and below.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems using amp meters & general knowledge of PLC’s for packaging equipment including AC/DC low voltage systems I/O control systems.
  • Stays current on various tank and piping standards for high purity chemicals systems
  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EH&S principles and values; champions safety as necessary
  • Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position
  • Welding knowledge of metal and plastic piping systems needed for installs & repairs

Work Environment:

This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements.  Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months.  There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous.  The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments.  Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location.  General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.

 Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk (sometimes over long distances), crawl, sit, speak, and hear.  The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee will be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee will be required to climb ladders and storage tanks up to 50’ in height.  The employee will be required to enter confined spaces and crawl under rail cars or trucks.  The employee will lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Employee may be required to travel by car, truck or other land vehicles.
